Today, we went under the Capitol dome for Day 8 of my 22 day, 22 daily pushup challenge to raise awareness about veterans' suicides. And I had the special honor of being joined by Senate President pro Tem Kevin de Leon and Michelle Lazark, a U.S. Army veteran and Sacramento police officer. We did our pushups in the beautiful office of the president pro tem, who has been very supportive of veterans’ issue. An average of 22 U.S.

Vito Imbasciani, California Secretary for Veterans Affairs, and two veterans joined me today on Day 7 of my 22 day, 22 daily pushup challenge to raise awareness about veterans' suicides. Mr. Imbasciani served as the counter for the pushups I did with Gary Leach, Commander of the Department of California American Legion and Russell Atterberry, the deputy secretary for Veterans Affairs who recently finished a 22-year stint in the U.S. Navy. Today, we did our pushups at the All Veterans Memorial at the Capitol. An average of 22 U.S.

22 Pushups: Day 5

Monday, June 27, 2016

On Day 5 of my 22 day, 22 daily pushup challenge to raise awareness about veterans' suicide, I was joined by friends from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) in Sacramento. We did our pushups at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial in Capitol Park, a sobering memorial that has the names of all 5,657 Californians who died in the Vietnam War. On average about 8,000 veterans commit suicide each year. If you are a veteran, and you need help, please call 1-800-273-8255, and press 1. Help is available, you are not alone.

22 Pushups: Day 4

Sunday, June 26, 2016

On Day 4 of my 22 day, 22 daily pushup challenge to raise awareness about veterans' suicide, I was joined by fantastic friends, Jim, Paul, Mark (Viet Nam airborne vet), and my wife, Melba. We gathered at the Lafayette Veteran's Memorial, where veterans of all wars, including my father, Morton Sawyer Glazer, who served in the Army in WWII, are honored by their families with a commemorative brick. On average about 8,000 veterans commit suicide each. If you are a veteran, and you need help, please call 1-800-273-8255, and press 1. Help is available, you are not alone.

22 Pushups: Day 3

Saturday, June 25, 2016

On Day 3 of my challenge to raise Veterans' Suicide awareness by doing 22 pushups a day for 22 days, I was joined by Lamorinda friends, Tony and Fred (a veteran of the Korean conflict), at the Moraga Veterans Memorial in the beautiful Moraga Commons Park. On average 22 veterans commit suicide every day, so we must commit ourselves to doing all that we can to ensure that vital services are available to veterans.
