Sen. Steve Glazer on Tuesday, Aug. 30, laid out his vision for putting hundreds of thousands of California State University students on the pathway toward four-year graduations.

One of the more significant higher education reforms in recent years, Glazer’s “California Promise” bill (Senate Bill 412), was approved 39-0, and now awaits the governor's signature.

Jointly authored with Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de Leon, D-Los Angeles, SB 412 (formerly SB 1450) would require California State University campuses to offer enhanced academic advising and priority registration to students who commit to 30 credits per academic year.

Low-income students, under-represented minorities, and community college transfers would get priority registration in California Promise programs, which would begin in the fall of 2017.
