SACRAMENTO – Senator Steve Glazer, D-Contra Costa, released this statement on the Senate’s consideration of ACA 5:

I have fought all of my life to try to ensure that no one was discriminated against because of race, sex or national origin.

Recently, I have watched with anger as top officials in this country appealed to anti-Asian sentiments to try to win favor or cast aspersions; a disgraceful practice from California and American history. 

We are all equal in the eyes of God and so should that be reflected in the humble work of the people on this earth.

For those who have been subject to generations of discrimination, I support a remedy that allows them to be on equal footing to live a life of fairness, equality and justice.

We need to own up to the consequences of failing to live up to our highest aspirations. This measure will give the voters of California an opportunity to affirm this enduring objective.
