A day after the 15th anniversary of 9/11, I had the honor of commemorating Sheriff Gregory Ahern's work in developing Urban Shield into a critical coordinating platform for First Responders throughout the Bay Area and the country to improve responses to emergency situations. As Urban Shield has reached its 10th anniversary, Sheriff Ahern and law enforcement agencies from throughout the Bay Area and the nation deserve our sincere thanks for keeping our communities safe and staying vigilant against terrorist threats -- both domestic and foreign.
