SB 9 – Accessory Dwelling Unit Standards

Senate Bill 9 ensures that state laws to encourage Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) are enforced. ADUs now account for 1 in 5 new housing units constructed in the state.

 

SB 81 – Patient Privacy and Protections in Healthcare Facilities

Senate Bill 81 treats information on the citizenship status of patients as confidential medical information, requires health facilities to develop protocols to deal with immigration enforcement, and restricts the non-public areas of hospitals to immigration enforcement agents.

SB 502 – Education Workforce Affordable Housing

Senate Bill 502 would help local education agencies develop affordable housing on excess land owned by the agency. Employees of those school districts, along with local tenants, would be given first right of refusal to live in that housing.

Senate Bill 617 updates the California Worker Adjustment and Retraining Act (WARN Act) to require employers provide information on services available through a local workforce development board for employees impacted by mass layoffs.

Senate Bill 704 addresses the growing number of illegal 3D printed ghost guns, by restricting the separate sale of firearm barrels unless purchased through a licensed firearms dealer. 

 

SB 786 – Resolving Ambiguities in Housing Law

Senate Bill 786 helps provide guidance to local jurisdictions in complying with Housing Element laws while expediting court hearings over Housing Element compliance. 

 

SB 792 – Low-Income Qualification for Childcare

Senate Bill 792 changes the income eligibility to access childcare and development programs provided by the California Department of Social Services from 70% of the state median income to 85%, in alignment with similar programs. 

 

SB 821 – Probable Cause Review for Warrantless Arrests

Senate Bill 821 would require courts to review the basis of a warrantless arrest within 48 hours to determine if probable cause exists that an offense has been committed by the suspect in custody.
