State Sen. Steven Glazer (D-Contra Costa) called Friday for state regulators and the Legislature to consider far-reaching reforms aimed at strengthening California’s electrical grid against wildfires, keeping the power on during high-wind events, and ensuring that mobile phone service remains available during disasters. 

“The status quo is not acceptable,” Glazer said. “Ten-year plans are not sufficient. We need to move now to modernize our infrastructure and our laws so we can keep the power on and keep our communities safe.”

ORINDA – The state’s top political watchdog on Thursday asked local district attorneys and the attorney general to prosecute BART for its illegal use of public funds for political purposes.




SACRAMENTO – California will become the first state in the nation to give small business owners the same protections that Truth in Lending laws have given consumer borrowers for more than half a century, under legislation signed Sunday by Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr.

Senate Bill 1235 by Sen. Steve Glazer, D-Orinda, will require lenders and other finance companies to provide clear and consistent disclosures to small business owners when they offer them financing and when they close a deal.

“The decision of the Supreme Court in Janus v. AFSCME threatens to undermine this movement by allowing employees who decide not to join a union to also avoid paying their share of the cost of the representation the union is required to provide to all employees, regardless of their membership status.
